The Mission
Combat-injured veteran Doug Knapp will set out at first light on June 21, 2021 and begin his quest to play 99 different holes at the Pinehurst Resort. All in one day. He plans to play, in this order, the No. 4 Course, the No. 1 Course, the No. 5 Course, the No. 3 Course, the (par-3) Cradle and finish on the famed No. 2 Course.
This 99-hole marathon golf experience was envisioned by Doug to increase awareness of the physiological and psychological injuries our combat-injured veterans endure after returning from war. Doug will train for FFF 99-HOLE MARCH ON PINEHURST over the next several months and will be donating all funds he raises to Fairways for Freedom®, which helps combat-injured veterans assimilate back into society through holistic initiatives and the game of golf. Fairways for Freedom® is a recognized 501 (c) (3) Public Charity.

Individual and Corporate Sponsorships are Available. Please Email us at Fairways4Freedom@gmail.com

What is Fairways for Freedom?
Fairways for Freedom® helps injured veterans assimilate back into society through holistic initiatives and the game of golf. Many U.S. Veterans struggle with physical disabilities, including loss of limbs, and with mental-health issues such as Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). Our program provides combat-injured Veterans with instruction and practice in evidence-informed, clinically tested, self-regulation techniques; opportunities for therapeutic, recreational, and community-building social activities; training on healthy lifestyle choices; and education about community-based Veterans resources for post-retreat reintegration.
We connect leaders in the business community with combat-injured Veterans through the game of golf. Business professionals serve as mentors & sponsors, and, in turn, learn what true sacrifice is all about.

Pinehurst Golf Resort
Known as the Cradle of American Golf, Pinehurst is where American golf is rooted, and where it continues to flourish. Located in Pinehurst, North Carolina, the property was developed by Bostonian James Walker Tufts, who wanted to turn the property into a New England style health resort.
The original golf course was laid out in 1898 and in 1900, Tufts hired Scottish golfer Donald Ross to supervise the golf program. From there Ross designed the famous “Pinehurst No. 2” course and the rest is golf history.
Today Pinehurst is synonymous with American Golf History, having hosted dozens of amateur and professional tournaments including three U.S. Opens and winning many travel and golf awards including Travel + Leisure Golf Magazine’s Best Golf Resort in America 3 times.
